Anyone else starting to suspect they may be in too deep?

My 8yr old son watches a Transformers episode with me before bed each night. We've made it a routine; a little father/son bonding time. He's really into Transformers and is always full of questions, which I find cute and enjoy answering.

So last night we're at the dinner table when this happens:

Son: Dad, who made the first Transformers?

Me: Well (insert son's name), it depends on which story line you read/watch. One says that the Allspark created them when it came to Cybertron, another indicates that beings called the Quintesons were actually the ones who...

Son interrupts: No dad, I mean who made the toys and cartoons first, like, what person or company?

Me: (Laugh my head off hysterically while my son and 6yr old daughter look at me like I have 2 heads.)

Anyone else think you might be getting in too deep?

Re: Anyone else starting to suspect they may be in too deep?

Based on that I would say (or more specifically my wife would say) that I am. My son and I do pretty much the same thing. He is watching Beast Wars with me now and enjoys it quite a lot (although Animated is his favourite). He is forever trying to analyze what he watches and identifies whatever figures I have around the man cave. His latest question regarding that was "why don't they all have hands with fingers in this series?" I am always amazed at how he sees things only to get from my wife "You see what you have created!" My answer is of course, I created a "mini-me" lol

Re: Anyone else starting to suspect they may be in too deep?

My 2 year old son started to lose his shit last night when I couldn't find his Snugglebee and Softimus Prime for bedtime.

For my 7 year old son's bedtime story we read from the 20th Anniversary IDW TPB Adaptation of TFTM '86.

One of my 4 year old daughter's favorite songs (other than 'Let It Go' from "Frozen") is "Dare To Be Stupid".

So I wouldn't say I'm in too deep, rather I'd say I'm great at brainwashing my children.

Subsequently my wife is ambiguous about her opinion of The Transformers. Likely due to all the expensive plastic crack jammed in the Detolf in our bedroom .

Re: Anyone else starting to suspect they may be in too deep?

My kids don't like or are interested in transformers due to my addiction needless to say they enjoy the bay formers movies but that's as far as it goes my kids are older and for them it's all about mind craft and call of duty I tried to get them into my transformers but as I said they spent their whole life with me collecting toys and to each their own I am 37 and have 3 boys ages 16, 11, 9 they are kids and I don't mind that they are not into what I am into plus it would be expensive in the long run

Which cartoon are you watching together? Are you scared he will want the entire toy line?

Oops, mixed up my wife's petname for Slumblebee .

JK...I stand corrected. Thanks JLvatron!

For the record my wife's pet names are Bruce Springsteen/Tony Danza.

('Cos she's "The Boss").

Re: Anyone else starting to suspect they may be in too deep?

This reminds me of an ad I've seen. Can't recall who the advertiser was but the ad goes like this: Father n son (5-ish yr old looking) sitting at a dinner. Son asked dad what sex is and dad went through a lot of time and trouble explaining to his son. Son looks confused and took out a piece of paper. Turns out the kid just wanted to fill out some activity form that asks him to check off one of boxes "Sex: M or F".
