Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat
Hello everyone,
I have not posted here for a very long time - about seven (7) years and would like to share a few words with everyone.
Due to the birth of my son & daughter in 2013 & 2015 respectively, I unofficially retired from Transformers collecting. Trust me, young children keep you extremely busy.
I do NOT recognize many new members/names in the BC sightings thread, but am glad to still see some names that I do recognize: Panda, ChrisW, SleeplessKnight, etc. I am very happy to hear that my hobby or our hobby is still active & thriving.
During the past 7 years, I have spent a lot of time at Toys R US, but ... I was there as a FATHER. I was NO LONGER at Toys R Us as a Transformers collector. It felt very strange in the beginning. I spent most of my time at the Barbie, Hot Wheels, & Paw Patrol sections of the store. My kids loved those toys.
Not surprisingly, my son is NOT interested in Transformers at all. He has heard of it, but has absolutely NO interest in it.
On another topic, I just wanted to share some personal information. I am probably the official "Alpha Trion" of ALL Transformers collectors since I am now 52 years old. I started watching & collecting the figures when I was in Grade 9. I had actually started collecting the Marvel Comics first before the TV show took off.
Moreover, many of you younger collectors probably did NOT know. In 1983 or so, there were many Diaclone "Transformers" figures available for sale at quite a few retail stores in the Vancouver area - especially Chinatown. At the time, I had purchased quite a few Japanese Diaclone figures because the official Hasbro figures were more expensive!
Unfortunately, my kids need me now so, I had to end the post here.
Best wishes to everyone!
