To the MISB purists...

Why?

If you open *none* of your toys, what is it you enjoy about it? Just looking at the piles and piles of Cardboard and plastic that's taking over your house? The Delusion that this will work as an "investment"? Nostalgia?

At this point, are you even able to call yourself a toy collector if you deliberately remove yourself from ever experiencing them?

Why even collect transformers when it could be literally anything inside the boxes?

I mean I hear the stories as to why

Holding on for later, and opening them during dry spells
Keeping for eventual trade fodder
Having a personal collection and the "investment" collection at the same time

What is it you get out of it?

Re: To the MISB purists...

Maybe for him he his not a toy collector but only a collector.
People who collect coins, are they not enjoying them because they dont spend them?
And for the investment side, 26 years ago whem TF came out who could
have know that a quarter century later there will be people ready
to pay big $$$ for a MISB piece of plastic with a little die-cast?

The best experience is to try it yourself and find out first hand

As for myself, for the 25th anniv GIJoe figures I have 2x of each one to play/display and the other to stay on the card. I just like the way the artwork and figure look together. Yes, it does bring back a feeling of nostalgia of a time seeing these on pegs so many years ago and unfortunately not being able to afford them back then.

Box is to a toy as clothes are to a girl

Sure it looks pretty but I'm more interested in playing with what's inside

I've seen what Nocturn does to boxes. Better warn the ladies.

Re: To the MISB purists...

I can appreciate some of the artwork on some of the boxes, so I do see the attraction there.

I do still have lots of stuff MISB, but to be honest most of it is in that state as I have not had the opportunity to open it and display it to my satisfaction.

Bottom line though, for me anyways, is that they are toys and meant to be played with. Much like the boobies Nocturn was implying he was going to play with... Unless CyberMnky was right and Nocturn was actually after the clothes.
