BotCon: The *Secret* Panel?

I noticed no Botcon report featured on the Peter Cullen panel, neither at Allspark nor TFW2005.

Did this event actually happen?
Was this a Secret BotCon Panel?

Can any Botconners out there shed some light?

The first rule of The Peter Cullen Panel is: Don't talk about the Peter Cullen Panel.

Re: BotCon: The *Secret* Panel?

Probably because nothing happened like at every other Peter Cullen panel because 90% of the questions are

"Can I have your autograph?"
"Can I hug you?"
"Can I take a picture with you?"
"Can you do "<this>" line?"
etc. and so on....

hence why it's a huge waste of time

Not this year. This year he:

- revealed he is actually the real voice of Frank Welker

- told the audience he was once the Gerber baby

- suggested that in TF: Prime he'd be voicing Optimus with a New Jersey accent ("dat's new joy-zee!")

- told everyone his mustache HAS THE TOUCH.

- and dropped a bombshell when he said he was quiting voice acting to pursue a career as an on-camera actor. First up: playing Luigi in the new live-action Super Mario Bros. franchise.

Yup, this year's Botcon sure was full of suprise. Indeed.

Re: BotCon: The *Secret* Panel?

Nothing new or interesting was said in Peter's panel.

Scott/Paul was kinda funny but also on an informational side of things, nothing new.

Bob's panel had ONE new thing we didn't know (He didn't write the tech specs for anything 1986 and up with the exception of Season 2 characters that ended up as 1986 toys like Menasor for example)

Thanks for the great info, Dan!
Did you say "Bonjour" to Mr. Montrealer Cullen?

BotCon 2010 - Peter Cullen Panel

JLvatron was wondering about this panel so here it is:

We just got out of the Peter Cullen panel here at BotCon 2010, and we have the list of question posed and the answers that he gave.

What did you feel about Ironhide dying?
I never saw it coming.

What did you feel about "give me your face"?
He still stands for what he used to stand for, so that will never change.

What is it like if Eeyore and Optimus Prime talked to eat other?
Peter Cullen has learned that he is no longer Eeyore. Eeyore says hi to Prime and tells him he's no longer himself. Prime says, "whose but do I need to kick?"

When asked what does he think about acting in a movie like "Revenge of the Fallen," how do you feel about the Prime and the way he acted?
Cullen repeats that he doesn't think Prime changed and he always stands for the same things. "I have a lot of planets of conquer. For the greater good."

Prime is definitely his best voice. He feels that the Transformers are so big and close to many people.

Did you think G1 was going to be this big?
No, definitely not. It was a surprise.

Cullen sees G1 Ironhide and says, "leaking lubricants" in the voice of G1 Ironhide.

How does it feel to know that you are the voice of the franchise?
It hasn't really sunk in yet. The creators created a great character and they deserve the credit.

You are the voice of Optimus when most people think of him. What do you think of the other Optimus incarnations?
When he was "whacked," he lost interest in all other Primes.

How did you feel when you were selected as Prime in G1?
Happy. Any actor that auditions for a role among many actors, and I got it, I was very happy.

Rodimus Prime killed Prime?
Cullen laughs and says "that's a script!" When Prime stopped breathing, he stopped caring.

How does it feel to be working with Frank Welker again?
Fantastic. He is the king and he cannot begin to recount their fun times together. Welker makes him laugh so hard. He recounts the story when Welker rubs his leather soles together, and says "Mr. Christian!" Cullen couldn't stop laughing.

You're going to love this new show, no matter how old you are. And you're never going to forget Hub.

Somebody asked him about a show he worked on that he doesn't remember. He reveals that he was a nervous wreck during his first BotCon, and afraid that people would ask him hard questions. And he thanked the fan for making him feel dumb.

How do you feel about KARR? And about reprising him?
It was a complement and I was working as Prime at the same time. He forgot what he sounded like so he had to research it.

Does anybody ever recognize your iconic voice at the grocery store or something?
No, I usually make voices when I check out.

How did you feel when you learned you'd die in RoTF?
I was relieved to turn a couple pages to learn I was still there.

Which one would you rather prefer? Hero? Or villain?
He's always approached his villains will seriousness. But he enjoys heroes more.

How do you develop the voice of a character?
He said with Prime, he put together his voice based on the character. Peter said he based his voice on his brother Larry, who was in the Marine Corps at the time. He told Cullen to just relax.

How do you feel returning to TV?
He loves it.

What did you feel when you were called back?
He couldn't figure out why they would bring him back for several episodes.

Final words: He is very grateful and that we are the most tenacious and grateful group.
