Re: Generations Thunderwing QC issue
Where did you get it? I recommend taking it back. Anything with a pin issue is a write off for me.

A local comic shop, I don't know if they would do anything for me though.

Re: Generations Thunderwing QC issue
If they have another one, they should replace it for you & then bitch about it to their suppliers. If you don't & if you go there often enough, just ask for store credit. If they refuse, then you're probably best off not giving them your business anymore & keeping it in robot mode/trying to fix it yourself.

Re: Generations Thunderwing QC issue
I had a completely different QC issue that didn't really affect the figure whatsoever: the screw in the back of the head was missing. Completely weird, but I did find a replacement 'donor' screw that works just fine.
As for your issue...yeah, can't help you there.

Re: Generations Thunderwing QC issue
With pins, generally they have one textured side, and one smooth side. You want to press something against the pin (like a nail with the point cut off, or a thumbtack with the pin trimmed) so that you can push the pin out a bit. You want to be applying the pressure on the smooth side of the pin, so that the textured side pops out first. If you're sending the textured side into the joint, you're doing it wrong.) Once you get it out far enough, you use the piers to pull out the pin the rest of the way.
Note: Some pins are smooth on both sides and some are textured on both sides, so in those cases there's no right or wrong way to force them out.
I've had reasonable success with my thumbtack because I still have a wide area to push down with (the thumb part) but it applies that pressure to a very small area (the pin part). I cut down the pin end of the thumbtack so it's flat - that way the sharp point doesn't scratch the pin I'm trying to remove (or the plastic if it slips) and it's less likely to slip in general if it's flat.

Re: Generations Thunderwing QC issue
putting the part in hot water also helps (heat expands) to get the pins out
