Re: Very brief review of AOE Voyager Prime and Grimlock

I'm more surprised we got a G1 painted version and not rustbucket like the movie.

Re: Very brief review of AOE Voyager Prime and Grimlock

Just a closer look at Grimlocks face, not that it will really make a difference. I actually don't mind his head, but the horn is kinda dumb. He's holding FOC Grimlocks sword BTW
Also, if I can find a way, I might mod Grimlock so his beast head folds back instead of the two halves on the side and jaw behind him. I think it's doable. Might try it this weekend.

This pic turned out blurry but it shows Prime, at least mine, has some strong joints. The gun is from Big Armada Leader Prime with that POS trailer, so it aint that light so to speak.
It took less than 10 seconds to get Prime to hold that pose, and even hitting my table a bit, didn't fall. Mine has some really strong joints. His fists are actually a bit too strong. Use the gun to turn them.

Also, DOTM Megatron can kinda hold the gun. He doesn't use the peg since his hands are open but you can hold that actual handle part and get a finger inside on the trigger. Doesn't hold well, but modded, it would work. I thought about that when I noticed Primes gun is more shotgun-like Megatron used in DOTM. I still want my Leader DOTM Megatron...won't happen, I know. But at least I can give him a shotgun.
Posting more pics on the photo thread.

Optimus is awesome. The transformation is really quite clever, and the articulation is pretty marvelous. I'm not sure if the leader class Prime can be as fun as this one. I'm giddy we got a figure this good this early.

Bayverse aside, it's a great Optimus figure.

Maybe I'm part of a minority and maybe it makes a difference to see them in person but people are talking about how great Prime looks, but I don't see anything that special about him?

He looks really good from the back and I like the scale.

Re: Very brief review of AOE Voyager Prime and Grimlock

That is EXACTLY how I pictured a baysformer grimlock.
more insecticon than dinobot.

Dino mode looks okay.

I WILL buy that optimus for vehicle mode only.
Looks even better than the classics prime.

It's not so much about looks, as i stated that it needs more colour to be less bland. It's the figure itself. As a Transformer it's really nice. I would still prefer his mask, and will be adding it when I repaint, but as a figure I really like it.
Grimlock, not really good in either mode. Maybe my mods and repainting will improve it, but not holding my breath. Gonna try a few ideas I have in mind
