How many of the same figure is too many?

I'm not talking about the same character here, but the (almost) exact same figure here.

I'm going through my stuff and realized I'm a little overstocked on Soundwaves. I've got the Encore, Takara Reissue, Takara Reissue of Soundblaster (if you count him as the same), the TRU reissue. G1 Prime is another one that is sitting multiple times on my shelf (and I'm afraid with the 25th reissue, another will be added).

I got to wondering... why? Why must I have multiple versions of the same toy?

Anyone else have this problem?

The G1 Optimus Prime mold. It's great and all, but I think one is enough, even if you just have G1 Ultra Magnus.

The most I have is 3 of the same mold, not counting repaints. I have 3 G1 Starscream. 1 Original G1, 1 Takara TFC re-issue, and one hasbro re-issue. 2 Powermaster Prime's.

Re: How many of the same figure is too many?

I have two Alternators Swerve, Sunstreaker, and Skids. All replacements due to some kind of minor breakage.

I also have a lot of the same Alternators and Binaltechs but these is due to the differences. I also have a few duplicates due to getting them cheep, but I keep those MISB

I have a G1 prime cab and an encore, one in truck and one in bot. I also have a 20th DVD prime and MP-04 prime, same setup as the g1 style.

Re: How many of the same figure is too many?

it depends I'll usually stick to one, figure, but with the Classics, I now have duplicates. However, I do collect all figures from my favorites so I have many of Ultra Magnus, Thundercracker and Cyclonus. I don't think it's too many if it's a character you like!

One per mold is enough for me. The money you spend on extras, I spend on samples.
