how to clean storage bins properly sorry to be obsessive

i bought a storage bin from target to store my toys but am unsure weather to clean it before storing toys.

How would I clean it properly because aren't the boxes designed to block humidity and mold with certain chemicals in the plastic. By washing it could I affect the performance of the box?

How would i wash it properly

Should i even bother cleaning the bin?

I also have hdx brand storage bins from home depot. Should i wash them? how would i properly wash them.

thank you very much for putting up with my obsessive posts.

If it ain't dirty, why clean it? If it is, mild soap and warm water will never hurt plastic. OCD isn't all bad. My guess is your bots are going to stay in good shape.

I'd flood it with warm water (not hot, the water's mass might bend out the plastic and hot will make it even more flexible) and then add a drop or two of dish soap.

Swish it around, drain it, rinse it, and then wipe it dry. let it sit to make sure it's dry before popping anything in.

That's why you only fill the inside of it. So long as you dry off the wheels when you empty it rust won't be an issue. Or just wipe down the interior with a damp rag if you're that worried about the outside getting wet.

But honestly, relaxxxxxxxx. You're storing toys, not an ancient egyptian manuscript.
