Re: Movie Talk (Possible Spoilers)

Just watched Dumb and Dumber tonight. Yup it's good. I still like the first one better but this one is a good story and follow up. I'm glad they didn't redo all the jokes from the original. This one's got some good, original goofy antics. Can't wait to see the cut scenes on the Blu Ray.

Also ended up watching Ouija. Boring, not scary and uninteresting.

Of my choices, which would you recommend?
  • Interstellar in IMAX
  • John Wick
  • Birdman
I guess the real question is what mood will I be in?

Quasi-cerebral space exploration

vs.

Mindless shoot 'em up

vs.

Artsy "life imitates the movies" flick with great reviews.
Turns out I was in the mood for artsy so Birdman got my bills.

Fantastic movie.

Michael Keaton channels a hyper-realized version of himself if he was the type to have lamented his run as The (original movie version) Caped Crusader.

Edward Norton is perfect in his portrayal of that pretentious guy who doesn't give a fuck about anything but what you think of him.

Even Emma Stone, bug-eyed, bleach blonde and brooding as Keaton's neglected daughter/personal assistant fresh out of rehab proved she can portray someone other than the ingenue we're so used to seeing her as.

I've done live theatre so the antics and infighting revolving around the doomed Broadway play they were trying to put on was true to life yet captivating to watch in a real-time train wreck sort of way.

And from a technical/directorial standpoint the whole film is shot as one continuous shot. Amazing!

Definitely check it out if you want to step outside the Hollywood Blockbuster comfort zone. As much as I hate the term "Oscar Buzz" I'd be surprised if Birdman doesn't receive any industry accolades.

Yup I didn't even find the humor in GOTG funny. I'm goofy like that

At fist I was like meh, then I saw Pratt and was like, wow, then I heard the score in single note piano and I got some chills and then I saw Pratt riding his bike in a pack of (hopfully trained to kill) raptors and I was like, hell yeah
: Two tickets please.

Looks like a reduex of the first but improved. As long as the the acting and story equals the first it looks good so far

What's up with the Marineland dino dolphin exhibit lol

I got a bad feeling about this one. I hope it's not like JP2 where dinos run rampid in the city streets. That was just lame. Seems like the same happens but on the island. I really liked JP3 story. It's gonna be hard to top a Spinosaurus.

Star-Lord and Opie Cunningham's daughter gettin' down and dirty with those Dinos!

God...Hollywood is really lacking for original ideas theses days.
