Overpriced TFs!

We've all run into them.

There are even stores in all our areas that have the rep for being overpriced. Here in Toronto its TOYS TOYS TOYS. But I just saw them somewhere I never expected to, at Zellers!

At the Centerpoint Mall they have one peg full of Generations figures labelled $19.99, so I thought, "That can't be right", so I scaned one with the price scanner, and bingo! $19.99!!!!

For deluxe class figures! All the DOTM stuff was regular priced.

I can't believe it! They must want to hold on to them forever!

Re: Overpriced TFs!

I was shocked when I took at WFC Cliffjumper to the scanner at Zellars and had him come up at $17.99 rather than the normal price of the rest of the Deluxes.

Re: Overpriced TFs!

Uggg, I went to Zellers today in search of pajamas, made my way to the toy section for obvious reasons, and almost wanted to throw up when I saw that they'd not only avoided putting older things on sale... but also managed to raise their deluxe prices from 17.99 up to 19.99 (just like Superstore did).

Maybe the WFC series didn't get jumped as well, but Generations sure did.

Hey no store has been able to top the price RCSS had a while back. $24 for a deluxe before they brought it down to a more reasonable $19.99.

Re: Overpriced TFs!

I'm not sure what's going on with Zellers pricing. I was hoping with Target taking over that they'd get better. This is just a case in point of why people are shopping at Zellers less and less.

$19.99 deluxes are just going to collect dust. Can you imagine Walmart or TRU trying to sell there deluxes at $19.99? We'd have even more endless walls of peg warms and nothing would sell till it's on sale. It would vertually kill the transformers line and Hasbro or the major retailers don't want that.

Just watching parents with kids in the stores now I can see that most are not willing to pay full price and shuffle there kids off to other toy brands that are on sale. I have yet to be in a TRU and not hear a parent say "no that's not on sale" or "how about this it's on sale".

Re: Overpriced TFs!

One thing for sure, high prices still don't stop scalpers from raping the shelves @_@
The only good thing about higher prices is that some of the highly sought after figures stick around for awhile.

Yeah, it annoys me that Zellers jacked up the price for all their non movie toys...I refuse to buy anything from there now because of it. Sad thing is, none of the non movie toys seem to be moving...the one near me has had WFC Cliffjumper on the shelf for AGES.

But...you wanna see jacked up? Go to ToysToysToys.

Which "s" word? Stick or sought? Do I win a prize?

@DK
Toys Toys Toys isn't too bad. I've managed to find some figures that have eluded me at other stores. I find some of there prices a bit weird though, fore example Leader HFTD Prime is 49.99 while Starscream is 39.99(STEAL!). And they have more Primes than Starscream. Even some of the voyagers and delxues have inconsistent prices. But, yeah, their prices are still higher than most retailers. I only buy figures that can't find anywhere. *crosses fingers for ROTF Lockdown*
