Head got revamped. Basically accentuated everything to make it clearer. I really wanted to texture the "hair", but the wax looked like crap when I did. I may or may not play around with it as I go.
Here's the head part deux:
I'm happy now with the look.
On to casting:
I didn't have time for the silicone molds, so I had to gamble on some materials from the office. Hey, if they are good enough for the mouth, they should work here... right? This stuff sets up in about 5 minutes, and still has some flex. I was able to put together the molds in about 15 to 20 minutes.
I learned a very important lesson with regards to casting the resin today. Make sure your materials are not old. I used some crap that was out of date. The result was an incomplete cure of the material, which also left contamination of the mold. I had to clean that sucker over and over to get that crap out. It ruined the first recast with fresh material because of this residue.
Thankfully, I was able to recover the molds and able to cast the head tonight. Took me a few tried to get bubble free... I really need to learn the tricks of the trade on this.
Voila:
Dye bath to come...
