Spray Paint?
Hey Guys,
I'm going to attempt my first Transformers custom.
I've never worked with Spraypaint before, so I'm wondering what brands work well.
I think I'm going to need to Prime my figure as well, I heard automotive primer is good for this, can anyone shed some light on that?
Cheers!
-Ian

Re: Spray Paint?
i usually like to use motomaster "high build" primer from crappy tire.reason being is that i find if i use just normal primer,it's way more finicky when i go to sand it before top coating.but with high build,it gives you a bit more leeway before you "break through" on edges and raised parts.just use light mist coats.as for the paint itself, you can ask 10 people and still get 11 different answers.to each his own.but for a more in depth look/info,check out the tutorials section, transtorture has a ultra informative tutorial on everything from prepping to actual spray techniques.

Re: Spray Paint?
One thing I did wrong when I started with spray paint is I tried to cover in one coat..WRONG!! Several light coats is the way to go all done about 10-15 mins apart. I found if you let the Krylon paint sit to long and try to apply a 2nd coat it "crinkles and cracks" and makes a mess!!!

Fusion is ok, Krylon Outdoor Spaces is way better (IMO). I use it all the time & never prime at all.
Works great for me.

Re: Spray Paint?
Be careful buying @ Walmart.I bought my clearcoat there and it YELLOWED(must have been old).Horrible.I put all kinds of time into prep and careful painting for the clear to ruin it.Good luck with the customs.I quickly found I dont have the patients for it.

Re: Spray Paint?
Krylon Fusion has worked well for me, though I haven't tried the outdoor one as yet. Maybe I will.
Ditto on the priming. I tried it once and found it didn't do much for me so I skip that step now and the colors still come out good.
And live by Mega-Primes suggestion for applying coats as Nemisis Predaking suggests.

Re: Spray Paint?
A good prep is a must, you want to remove that oily film that comes from the manufacturer, soap water and iso. alcohol.
I'm using Krylon Camoflauge Flat Black from Canadian Crap and man I love it so much bought 10 in one shot cause' the shit is GOOD primer.
And as what other members say light coats with 10-15 mins apart.
Good Luck
