Do the dealers at TFCon offer better prices for figures than we find in retail at TRU, Zellers, and Walmart, or online? For example, should I hold off until then to pick up animated shockwave?

Sometimes, especially if you buy stuff loose. But many of the dealers instead carry imports and rare items you can't get at major stores.
