Carded Transformers packaging sucks
This has been bugging me for a few years now. Ever since Hasbro\Takara began using bubbles that wrap around the card, with strips of tape (of various sizes) to hold down the flaps on the back, I have been patiently hoping that the next new TF line, then the next, then the next, then the next........... etc. would return to the old style where the bubble was completely sealed on the front of the card. I think the Cybertron line was the last to do this.
Not only does it look messy (especially for MOSC collectors) but many times I see brand new toys that the tape is barely holding the package together, a situation only to get worse over time for collectors.
I suspect it even costs more to do it this way since it requires extra tape to be applied by hand? or machine vs a completely sealed bubble. There has to be a reason besides design why this continues to be the norm.
A non-issue if you only buy 1 of each, but I suspect many of us buy multiples of some figures, it almost makes me not want to do so anymore.
What's your take.

Re: Carded Transformers packaging sucks
I was just going to make a thread about this today, I kept going through the pegs looking for a good package thinking the taped ones were returns. And then I stood there wondering who would return 25 Tuner Mudflaps.
I want them to bring back the boxes from generation 1, those rocked, but I'm just thankful they don't use that awful "slice your hand open", "impossible to open" security packaging.

I like it. It is way easier to open.
I can see why MISB collectors don't like it though...

I noticed that the manufacturer does not put as much tape anymore though. One tape only. Before the universe and classics line are had three tapes on it.

Re: Carded Transformers packaging sucks
Its not a huge issue for me, but I would prefer them with no tape.

Re: Carded Transformers packaging sucks
We're talking about the voyager+ class, right? For a while I thought this was about deluxe- class(due to the carded part in the title).
