Canadian Slag Episode 18 - Goooldfinger

This episode starts off with a recap on the happenings at Fanexpo 2009, our stories, hauls, and things that caught our interest...IE the "casual fans" who, bless their hearts, entertained us with their stories of their favourite characters...oh Soundtape... Next we covered a topic that plagues many a figure making them quite rare commodities in any collection, Gold Plastic Syndrome. We closed shop with covering a listener request in getting to know Shockwave and ended with "How awesome would that be!?" if they made more WWII vehicle Transformers

Chicks DO dig Robot Heroes. And if you want an Ultra Magnus, I have a spare.

Was "Shackwave" intentional? Liked the shout-out, too. Thanks.

<3

Robot Heroes Ultra Magnus guards one of my bookcases. He'd LOVE a change of venue.

To my knowledge it's so far only be confirmed in Canada and the USA.

Re: Canadian Slag Episode 18 - Goooldfinger

lol, still listening.

I guess I should warn the Transfromers table guys at C4 for these silly questions.

Listening to that I actually feel a little less removed from this Fandom. While the Classics line was what brought me back in I still always remembered the key names and bots from my youth. Be it Soundwave, Ravage, Grimlock, Jazz, Prime, whoever. If I knew them once I didn't forget them later.

I can't say I've noticed this fan behavior in regard to Star Wars. Maybe its just because Star Wars has been such a big part of the popular culture for so long, or that its been feature film driven, I dunno.

Alos, Star Wars has a lesser number of prominate characters to remember than Transformers does(if you only look at the films, which probably 99% of casual fans do).

Re: Canadian Slag Episode 18 - Goooldfinger

Of interest the Shockwave mold does appear briefly in Season 3, though kinda mis-colored, in Five Faces of Darkness Part 3.

Yeah when I watched it like a year back I slowed down the Decepticons pouring out of the Quintesson Ship and there he is, green and purple. Thus I never really imagined that people thought he'd been killed....

Of course that could be Greenwave, Shockwave's brother to..........

That said Five Faces of Darkness part 2 shows the Combaticons standing around with Bruticus so they might no have done the best research oin those

And a C4 plug. Awesome guys! Great Episode, loved hearing all the convention talk from Fanexpo.

Hehe it was G1 Season 3, there was a BILLION reused designs and odd ball recolors. And any brown or green repaint of the Shockwave mold is Superlink/Energon Sixshot
