SPEED RACER
Saw this movie in IMAX over the weekend, and I thought the movie was AWESOME. Never watched any of the Anime back in the day, and am not a fan of it or anything, but this movie on its own had such heart and excellent acting it could be nominated for academy awards it was that good. WOW, I even want to watch it again and again. I can't even come up with one bad thing to say about it. Watch it, you will love it, guarenteed. I also suggest watching it on IMAX. It makes the experience even better, considering its about race cars.

Re: SPEED RACER
According to the box office numbers it took in half of what the studio was hoping for so basically bombed. Personally I have no interest in this, I won't even rent it. I will watch it for free when it come on the Movie Network, that's about it.

Re: SPEED RACER
No suprise. When I first saw the trailer I was like I might catch it on DVD. Then I heard more and more about it and it was playing at IMAX this weekend, and I had time to kill so the wife and I gave it a shot. Boy are we happy we did. This is truly a great movie. ITS TEN TIMES BETTER THAN THE TRAILERS and everything else you have seen or heard. Sure it has its kiddy moments but you guys are all toy collectors so ... I assume you will all LOVE IT.
Now this movie may bomb at the box office but it will make it all back with rentals and dvd/blu-ray purchases and then some. Trust me, I would be extremely surprised if you didn't enjoy yourself. This movie is a serious rare gem in hollywood.

Re: SPEED RACER
If they'd marketed this thing better it would never have bombed. Personally I enjoyed myself, the film was a fun escape from the tumultous whirlwind that is life. Not only that, but if you were interested in seeing how professional actors handle bringing an Anime to live action then this would be great, if the Dragonball Z live action is handled as good as this one was with each and every actor showing their true talents and professional respect for the project I foresee a new movie cash cow in the works.
I'd especially love to see a respectful Hollywood bring to life one of the Gundam or Robotech series.

Re: SPEED RACER
I'm in no rush to see it it, i'll rent it went it comes out in time. Just not really interest in it to go to the theatre for it. I'm sure its a cool movie and all, but not as big of a deal as some made it out to be.

Re: SPEED RACER
I consider this flic to be the best anime to live-action movie ever made. I guess most of you were expecting another "Sky Captian and the World of Tomorrow", "Aeon Flux", "Ultraviolet" or "Tron". But I promise you this is the best bluescreen movie ever made. But I guess thats not saying much since all of those past works have been horrible. This has brought back my faith that it can be done extremely well when the right talent is behind it.

Its considered a cult classic but an utter flop, and most critics and viewers at the time hated it. I think its alright and appreciate it for what it was. But Tron sucks in comparison to this film. Hands down. Thats all I am saying.
But its possible with the measly opening this film has had, that it too will be a flop. And later a cult classic. This film could very well be the Tron of this decade. Since Prince Caspian is opening next week and most people would choose that over this film. Too bad.
