Any chance anyone out there knows exactly where all these wonderful toys are built? Or perhaps has contact info?

guang zhou is a pretty heavy industrial area man, hundreds of toy factories there. even in Mainland china, most of the toys are made form that area. I am not sure if hasbro has its own facility or they do contract with other factory. the best way is to ask locals... btw hasbro in chinese is 孩子宝 (hai zi bao) maybe poke aournd or call the directories... or ask taxi drivers...

Re: Going to China next week...1st time
Anyone have any suggestions on a good "Canadian" gift I should bring for our hosts? Besides beer, maple syrup, cowboy hats and beef jerky i've kinda hit a mental wall...
There's one gent and one lady I'd really like to bring something special for.

How about some Native or Inuit stuff. Soap Stone carvings, art or animal carvings. You know, stuff that they sell in Banff...

Smoked Salmon, Native Art, uh... beaver pelts...
Basically, anything that says Canada to you. Bring them icewine from niagra, or some cds with canadian artists, or something like that. I think they'd like that better than any of the souvenir stuff you find at all the tourist traps.

Re: Going to China next week...1st time
Cowboy hats are from Texas.
When I think of Canada, I think hockey. I think Margaret Atwood. I think of professional pictures involving snow. I think Harold Green. I dated a guy who went to Canada to get knicknacks and paintings on canvas because Canadian art is 'better.' Local artwork might work, maybe.
Good luck!
