Classics Jetfire (and then the rest of the Classics line) was what got me into collecting seriously. Before, it was just spurts of BW, BM (really regret that) and RID.

Wife and newborn son bought me Classics Jetfire for Father's Day back in 2007. Since then I've been replicating my G1 collection from the 80s (that I hastily donated away in 1997) through CHUGs, a smattering of G1 Encore and a few Masterpieces here and there.

Honestly I've been pretty steady since BW era. Depthcharge was my first BW fig then Rampage and then had to get the rest of the BW characters. Of all the tf's I have bought over the years, probably a good 70% aren't worth keeping long term. Not that I hate those figs, I mean some I really hate and regret buying, but for the others that I have enjoyed over the years I just that I find I don't care as much for them in the long run. That's what selling and donating is for.

LOL, no offense taken. At the time, it was a combination of the return to vehicle based alt-modes, my favorite character (Prowl), clear windshields and rubber tires, the black and orange packaging, the opportunity to finally get a Bruticus all my own and probably a few other reasons that did me in

I had only collected G1 and Beast Wars. I visited the last TFCon and my bud pointed out the Animated Megatron.

"You should have a look, it's pretty badA$$" I thought nothing of it, searched online at some pics... Saw peaugh's review... now I pretty much have the entire Animated line!!!!

Watched Animated, now I'm watching Prime. The rest is history, I'm Collecting again!

I must admit, some of the 3rd party Transformers are fantastic!

I'm like you and only had broken Beast Wars from my parents growing up.

My girlfriend at the time randomly bought me Animated Megatron and it was over from there. I ended up buying the entire line of Animated as well, completed my Beast Wars USA, Cybertron and specific Optimus Primes/Ultra Magnus and Megatron/Scourge/Nemesis Prime.

I haven't gotten into Prime yet, I have Unicron on pre-order based and if I like him, I might just get into the line. My brother went to FanExpo hoping that Hasbro would've had the leftover from SDCC Cliffjumper "Rust in Peace" hoping to spark the series for me... but my passion for Prime is still "rusting" pun intended...

When I first saw the commercial for Omega Prime I went BUCK! Of course back then, Transformers was irrelevant to me because I was still a high school'er and my parents wouldn't buy me anymore toys.

My brother then bought me Ultra Magnus from Silver Sales years after RiD and I went for a hunt for Optimus. That's what rekindled my passion for true combiners.
