What brought you back to the game?

It's been SO long since I've posted... In fact my last post was dated at September 16th 2010, a couple days shy from 2 whole years =o.

Since then, my last Transformer I have bought was... I can't remember hahaha.

It was easy for me to pass on Transformers because I didn't care for MovieVerse, PCC, CyberVerse and Prime (basically anything Hasbro has retailed for the past 2 years). A lot of the 3rd party stuff was hard to pass, but the prices told me I had to.

I still followed Transformers news for the past two years and when I came across this bad boy, I knew "You can't quit Plastic Crack, you'll eventually come back".



I hate having repaints, but after having Optimus Primal, Clear Convoy, Burning Convoy and the retooled TV accurate 10th Anniversary. As well as Lio Convoy, Flash Lio Convoy and Black Lio Convoy. So having Big Convoy, Black Big Convoy and Nemesis Prime (Universe series) it was destiny for me to get this figure.

After committing to buying a membership and getting 6 other figures that I have no use for, I knew I was back in the game.

I now have all 3 Knight Morpher Seekers, TFC Toys Project Uranus: F4-Phantom and Eagle, MP-12 to 14 all on pre-order...

So... I guess I'm back I guess it's time to reconnect with my TF buddies

How long was your hiatus and what brought you back to the game?

Good thread is good, and for the most part, I can credit my return to transformers (after Beast Wars/Beast Machines anyway) to ROTF Sideswipe. Like, there were a couple of random things I found myself appreciating in between like the classics Nemesis Prime & the Alternators Hound, but it was never enough of a push to actually go back to buying shit, let alone to actually get involved in the fandom itself.

Then when I saw the Corvette concept, my mind was blown & I wanted to pick up a diecast model of that car. Then through my google travels I realized that I really liked the transformer it became too, so I looked thoroughly into every version that was released, eventually arising on the HA as my pick because I mostly wanted it for the car at that time anyway. However, when nobody in my are still had old stock of it, I took to these forums instead of others because I loved using the resource section & because it was much easier than seibertron to navigate (not to mention I liked the simple vB skin better than their black one). I didn't wanna start buying shit as a total noob, so I just came here every day or so & fell more into the pit. Soon enough I realized that I wanted to buy some of the BW figures I didn't manage to get as a kid (mostly TM Tarantulas), so I bought him along with a few others from Dr Prime couse I knew he was cool from his youtube channel... one of which was a ROTF Sideswipe. It wasn't the HA, but now I cared about the robot mode more & didn't really want one that big, so it worked out for the best, and he's still the centerpiece of my movie shelf.

Nice thread... I had been out of the game for 10 years... I started modding cars...

I had only collected G1 and Beast Wars. I visited the last TFCon and my bud pointed out the Animated Megatron.

"You should have a look, it's pretty badA$$" I thought nothing of it, searched online at some pics... Saw peaugh's review... now I pretty much have the entire Animated line!!!!

Watched Animated, now I'm watching Prime. The rest is history, I'm Collecting again!

I must admit, some of the 3rd party Transformers are fantastic!

Seeing a Cybertron Leader Class optimus prime for sale in Zellers for 19.99.

Buying it and then transforming it.
At that time, it was around 2007 and the classics had basically just started. The reinvention of the characters I could relate to from my youth that stayed so true to how I remembered and connected with them just got me hooked.

Sine then, it's been the comics from IDW that have kept me interested.

Michael Bay almost ruined it for me.
It honestly kills me that my 7 year old nephew thinks Optimus has flames and that BumbleBEE is a camaro.

I find collecting and the interaction with the community to be a stress relief valve from daily life. Its up there with atving for me.

Its funny, i belong to several other fourms. But this is the only one (transformers) thats truly relavent and makes you want to come back for more. Always something new. Either it be information, new toys, or meeting someone. Its just awesome.

MP Grimlock got me back after a good 20+ year hiatus. I got him, and almost immediately went to my parents house and dug out all my old bots from G1.
