You know, it might make some SMIDGEN of sense to have the Transformers they dress up be FEMALE characters. Like maybe Arcee or Blackarachnia?

It'd make sense, except that Joe Q Public doesn't know who they are because Transformers is something that existed in 1984, died, and then got turned into Michael Bay films.

That's about it. Yep.

Sorry, but if you are dressing up in a sexy Transformers costume for your mate, I'm guessing they know more than a casual fan about the franchise. Hasbro has to get over this concept that EVERY piece of TF merchandise can only be Optimus/Bumblebee/Megatron/Starscream related. They started doing that in about 2007, and it's been a bad trend. Before that we had all sorta of characters appearing in merchandise.

Seriously, does a sexy ladies Masters of the Universe costume have women dressing up as He-Man? Does a sexy women's Thundercats costume have women dressing up as Lion-O? So why do women dress up as sexy Optimus Prime and Bumblebee?

It's an anime thing. They genderbend characters all the time. EG Female Superman, Batman, etc.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me in the least. I'd encourage it in fact.

I know you don't mean anything sexist, but what you're saying can be misconstrued as women should only dress up as women characters.
