Re: wanted: the 80s transformers comics

Do you want the actual comics themselves, or just the stories?

IDW's reprinted most of the entire G1 Marvel US run in TPB form. There's a few issues they couldn't reprint due to licensing issues re: Circuit Breaker/Spiderman, but that's only in the first few volumes (would have been pointless to reprint the latter half of the Marvel books without licensing C.B. from Marvel after all!)

Their reprints have most of the Marvel US series save those aforementioned issues, Headmasters, and the original TFTM adaptation. Only thing missing is the GI Joe/Transformers crossover. Titan (a UK publisher) has also done a number of TPBs as well for the G1 run, too.

As for the UK stories, if you want those - IDW's reprinted a LOT of the major Marvel UK stories, though you'll need to go with some of the Titan TPBs if you want everything (as some stuff with Death's Head can't be reprinted by IDW - again, rights issues)

Finally, it's not technically 80s, but if you want the G2 book, go with the 2 Titan TPBs - it's all their is at this time.

Re: wanted: the 80s transformers comics

There's plenty of local comic shops and even local shows that have them. Have you considered hitting those up?

Warning though, as some issues will cost more due to popularity.

Hit the kiddie section of your local public library.
I regularly get a TPB and read them to my nephews.

Re: wanted: the 80s transformers comics

I've got a bunch of doubles if you are interested. I'd have to see exactly which ones though.

Re: wanted: the 80s transformers comics

I have doubles for some comics (some of their condition isn't great but still extremely readable) and a couple of TPBs. If you're looking for IDW reprints of the UK ones I should a lot of spare, but that are all incentive covers (some mint, others slightly damaged)

I suggest buying TPBs but expect it to be at least $20 a pop at any store

Re: wanted: the 80s transformers comics

well honestly how this came about was listening to the canadian slag podcast where they talked so highly of the original marvel comics.

so that entire series has been reissued as trade paperbacks? is that what we're saying here?

You can buy the latest one's from your local Chapters brand new.
They can even order the volumes they don't have in stock on your behalf, however you'd have to pre pay for them first.
Six volumes in all exist, with the most gripping & epic of those stories being contained in the last two volumes ( 5 & 6 ) IMO.
Enjoy!
