Interesting observations at TF toy shelves

Hi all,

For the past 2 months, I've been checking out the TF selection at Toys R Us, Walmart, and Zellers in the Greater Vancouver area whenever I can. I noticed the following patterns:

1. Cybertron sells out faster than Classic
2. Kids seem to favour Cybertron over Classic
3. Parents seem to favour Classic over Cybertron
4. Kids & Parents favour Cybertron & Classic over Titanium

5. Cybertron Ape Optimus Prime, Rex Megatron, Demolisher does not seem to be the last to sell out.
6. TF "jets" sell out faster than "animals"
7. Cybertron Scout class sell out faster than Cybertron Legends
8. Cybertron Excellion sells out first before Smokescreen & Downshft
9. Cybertron Scouts sell out in this order: Clocker, Brakedown, other "bikes" (such as Hightail, Lugnutz), "animals", Ransack GTS
10. Many Cybertron Primus are available for sale despite being clearance priced at $ 39.98 at Toys R Us.
11. Classic Hot Rod (Rodimus) sells out faster than Bumbleebee & Cliffjumper
12. Cybertron Leader class sells out in this order: Galvatron, Optimus Prime, Metroplex
13. 6" Titanium Rodimus Prime sells out before Optimus Prime and Starscream
14. Ultra class sells out in the following order: Wing Saber, Sky Shadow, Menasor, Cyro Scourge
15. Classic Voyager Megatron sells out faster than Optimus Prime and Jetfire

Would anyone like to confirm or disagree with my observations? Or are these observations only valid in Vancouver, BC? Would anyone like to share their cities' "sell out" tendencies?

Yeah I agree with all those general observations.
Good analysis.
Kids like cybertron better cuz they see the characters in the cartoon and cuz it's flashier than classics (they're like: "who is this stupid grey jet with red and blue?")

Re: Interesting observations at TF toy shelves

Winnipeg "sell out" tendencies is actually very similar to Vancouver's to the points mentioned by RedOktobre. One main observation in Winnipeg is that most often in the classics line, Cliffjumper and Mirage are the ones left on the pegs.

I think a reason for this, is the idea of getting you money's worth. Why spend 16ish dollars on a "smaller" figure when you can get Grimlock, Rodimus, or Ramjet. These figures by appearance fill the package more than Cliffjumper or Mirage appearing "larger". It may also be because of the small quantities per case that they sell faster...yeah thats probably it.

Wow Cyro Scourge AFTER Menasor? I mean I figured partly why Toys R Us is having a Ultra sale is CAUSE of Menasor.

Protoman,

In the Vancouver Toys R Us, Cyro Scourge is extremely pentiful. Menasor is the next most pentiful.

Noodle, good point! Kids probably go for the "slick cars" like Hot Rod over Cliffjumper.
