loonie now over us dollar.

the canadian loonie is now priced at $1.00786us for the weekend.

that means our dollar is over 3/4 of a cent more then the US dollar. adding the fact that the US have lower prices then canada, that's a lot of buying power for us.

road trip anyone?

oh wait...i almost forgot........the expo is on sunday.

US or expo?...US or expo?...US or expo?........shit!

Re: loonie now over us dollar.

So if the loonie continues to be equal if not greater than the american dollar; who's planning to travel down to the states for some Black Friday shopping?

...Not I; US stores are nuthouses on Black Friday. Pretty amazing deals to be had mind you, but the hassle might not even be worth it.

Re: loonie now over us dollar.

I think I'm gonna head down south just before the Manitoba Comiccon in October. On a related note, late last week I was almost shocked when while cashing out at the liquor barn the US exchange on our cash out was 0%. It was as if time stopped for a moment as we all took a second to breath in the moment at work. Yippee!!! You should hear all the Americans complaining in the liquor barn

I think I may just going to have to take that chance...

edit: [a bit off-topic, sorry] what's the date of the manitoba comic-con again? the week before haloween?
I'm still debating whether I should go or not...

It ain't going to come crashing down, even if the US gets its act together the most we'll lose is a few cents making it .9583 or however that works. Our dollar is going to stay par or near par for at least a while I'd imagine.
