Collection regrets (the other side)...

I'm not talking about the ones you got rid of, but the bots you purchased then took a long hard look at and thought to yourself, "what the hell is wrong with me?"

What have you bought that you have regretted bringing into your collection? What have been some of your worst impulse buys?

---------------

The last ones that springs to mind for me is Universe Nightslash Cheetor and Frostbite. I'm not a BW fan at all, but it had been such a lull in releases at the time that I felt obligated to buy a TF or two. Oh yeah... also SWTF Darth Vader Tie Fighter. Major WTF purchase for me.

For me, it is buying the movie figures before the premiums were announced. But then again, how was I to know?

Re: Collection regrets (the other side)...

Recently I would say most of the Animated line. Ended up returning everything I bought during the 2-1 sale at TRU and would sell off everything if I thought I could get some money back on it but will probably end up keeping it for now. At least I stopped at wave one so the damage isn't too bad, unlike lines like RiD and Armada which only now have eneded up finally selling off.

Buying the Hasbro 2002 reissue of G1 Optimus Prime from a scalper, not knowing that child safety changes were made. I was lucky to find a replacement the next year during my trip to Japan: Takara's TF Collection #0.

Re: Collection regrets (the other side)...

The only one that really sticks out in my mind was the Transmetal Optimal Optimus that I got for $5 @ used kids clothing/toy store. Put him up on display then realized how much of a p.o.s it was..couldn't bear to even look at it so he got recycled..
Not really a big deal because it was cheap but I soon after realized I bought it simply because I didn't have it, not that I cared to have the mold. I've never cared for or bought any BW/BM stuff otherwise..

Re: Collection regrets (the other side)...

My biggest regret was collecting the Cybertron line. Don't get me wrong, I love the line. At the time my only focus was G1, and now it include classics and movie TFs. And as much as I like the Cybertron line I see it as a waste of money and space. I don't want to collect everything Transformer related, and I don't have the space for everything. So Cybertron is the odd "man" out. I also don't want to sell it now since for most of the figures I won't even get close to what I paid....

Lately, maybe buying all the new Universe Classics instead of waiting for the Henkei versions...

Re: Collection regrets (the other side)...

-KG-, I feel your pain... I went ahead and got a bunch of those too... as well as RID, and Armada stuff... When I ran out of room, I looked at those and asked myself WTF was I thinking?? There were only a few select pieces I actually wanted to keep but the rest I was able to clear as a lot from an online selling site like the used(your area).com and kijiji. Luckily I kept the boxes and card backs so I was able to get a decent amount for them all

Good luck!

Re: Collection regrets (the other side)...

Wow, how can I decide.

I do have short list.
-G1 Iron Hide/Rachaet (just so lame and fragile)
Don't have him anymore as he was broken on the first Transformation (I was 6 and it ruined my Christmas of '84)

-Movie Dreadwing (a gift that kept on sucking)
big heavy arms on tiny ball joints=fail

-Titanium G.I.Joe Megatron (also a gift)
if this was Megs then The war would have been over with in moments. THE WINNER OF THE UBER SUCK!
