NES classic edition worth it?

Just saw Toys R Us advertise it in the latest flyer for $80 so I guess they're selling it now. you guys think this is worth the nostalgia and will get lots of play time? or waste of money? (buyers remorse after 20 minutes of playing it)

I don't think it's worth it imo. You can download emulators & pretty much all nes roms for free online for your computer.

Totally worth it. Gonna be great bonding time with my daughter. This will be her first gaming system. She is quite competitive with me. I foresee lots of fun ahead. Good luck finding one though. Got mine early this morning at Walmart.

Yep. The value proposition is totally there for me as well.

I managed to score one at both Walmart and Best Buy (first in line there!) this morning. No extra controllers to be found, so it's just one player fun for now. LOL

Re: NES classic edition worth it?

Let me know how the sound and picture quality goes, given these are probably un-altered 1980s graphics designed for the old tubes, and not today's large screen HD and 16:9 proportion. I imagine there will be black bars on the left and right side of the screen to crop to the old 4:3 proportion.

the retro console and controller looks cool.

Yes it is 4:3, so black bars along the sides. There are two additional display filters that you can enable for that true retro experience, the one being a CRT filter that adds horizontal lines throughout LOL. The quality is as clear as it can be for what it is. Sound too. The biggest downside are the short wires, although they do lend to the true 80's experience

Forgot it was being released today. Completely missed it, now sold out. Apparently we only got 14 units.

Yeah, there wasn't much to go around. Walmart got two dozen, Best Buy had just twelve. I think The Source and EB only got a handful, too.

But, yeah, playing it tonight with the kids. It's so much fun, and everything I could have wanted. Those controller cords are CRIMINALLY short, though!

Re: NES classic edition worth it?

I dug up a 25ft HDMI cable I bought from the dollar store a while back. Now I can play it at my couch, but still feel I need some extension controller cables if I'm using both controllers with my daughter. There must be some third party ones around I assume.

Re: NES classic edition worth it?

Though about picking one up this morning before work, then I saw the 20+ people in line at my local TRU decided against it (they're really bad for getting low quantities).
