They will cancel a pre-order but if you do it too often they will not be pleased. They only charge you to cancel after you have paid, which is about two weeks before it ships to you, usually.

They changed their policy for preorders this year and now charge a 15% restocking fee on cancelled preorders. There's no mention of any allowance for cancellations anymore.

Re: Transformers Asia Reissue of Hasbro Masterpiece Optimus Prime

As someone who missed out and had to buy my MP-10 aftermarket, I was not happy when I saw this to be honest. But upon futher review...

The figure costs $159 USD.
With conversion depending on CAN$ $180.
Shipping for this big guy $40 USD. $220.
Then my favorite import duty charge $40.
For a grand total of $260.

Of cource this is just an estimation. That's about what I paid. The only people who got this figure for a "reasonable" price were the ones lucky enough to find it at TRU at first release. Also let's hope this re-issue is better than Grimlocks.

It's a always interesting seeing eBay after an announcement like this is made. All of a sudden so many Hasbro MP Primes pop up for sale. Same thing happened with MP-8X reissue. Collectors trying to cash in before people realize its being reissued for less than the premium rate.

Why can't we be happy for those who can get it cheaper? Why does it make you feel good that it is going to cost a lot of money for those who don't have it yet?

Really? Huh. Well I've scaled back on using them for just this reason. You order something, it gets delayed seven times, when it finally comes to market I don't have the cash, then I am stuck with a fee. No thanks.

Buying from BBTS will get tax charged too - that's what the customs fee is. And customs not only charges tax on the item value, but on the shipping too (and on top of any state tax that might get charged if you ship to a US address). I asked them one time at the border about this, because I could never understand why their charges worked out to be more than just 13% of the item value; pisses me off.

So assuming getting it from BBTS would be about $250-$260 after currency conversion, shipping and customs, Automaton would be cheaper at $180 CAD + 13% HST + $13 flat rate shipping = $216. Plus your money stays in Canada and doesn't go to that "Big Bad" toy store.

Re: Transformers Asia Reissue of Hasbro Masterpiece Optimus Prime

So far, to the best of my knowledge, in 6 years of operations, we have never charge a single restocking fee on a any given cancelation. Even to customers who have let their preorders in a 'limbo' zone by not paying their invoice or by canceling their invoice directly via Paypal without notifying us.

If you ask me? At Automaton we have the most 'loose and permissive' cancelation policy of our niche market on the web.

So much for our 'racket' I guess.

Thank you very much.

Mario
