So would you suggest the 30th anniversary over the 25th one?
Both from Shout of course.

I don't know what the 30th anniversary release is. Sorry, I wasn't aware they did another release. Link?
I know shout did a box set with every season after they did the individual releases, and then did the BluRay of tf:tm
EDIT: looking at the wiki, the 30th anniversary release don't seem any different?
Which amazon search shows s2part1, s2part3, and S3+4 sets are all available for under $25 bucks. The season 1 boxset is expensive; there are used copies for sale for cheaper tho. The full series matrix box set looks OOP

since we here have yet to see a blue ray release of the series ( I believe correct me if I am wrong please) the matrix box set is the best north american release I have found and lots of extras...

Part of it is how much time is spent on encoding and prep to put on the DVD too.
The 25th does look great as far as what you get, but I bet that thing costs a fortune now.
One thing I will say is that the recent 35th movie was cleaned up a lot. I doubt the matrix set has any of that, but I figured I'd mention it. I honestly don't know if we'll ever get a higher quality G1 series release now that we're past the 35th anniversary. (Just wait 15 more years, yea right!) lol

The Rhino boxes were pretty expensive individually when they came out in the early 2000’s, so I didn’t bother upgrading to the Shout version later, but I’d do it if they ever upgrade to Bluray

I linked the complete shout series box set above for you, that's the "25th." Don't think you will get better unless they ever do a BluRay; I'm not sure it would really be worth doing BluRay considering the source media
Also worth remembering the movie was filmed in higher quality media, with a bigger budget. There's more to work with for the remaster and cleanup than the tv episode.

Sadly, as I figured, there's no Matrix box collection on Shout. Not surprised there. I guess I would have to look for a good used one. :/
Thanks for your help.
