TEKTON 66061 1/16-Inch Roll Pin Punch https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00QV2JOUS/..._Z9.dEbKBR59Z2

This is the type of thing you should be looking for.
Not sure how familiar you are with pin removal, but also make sure you are pushing it out from the correct end. One end of the pins are thicker and textured to keep them in place. You should be pushing from the opposite end of that, so it comes out first. Then you can pull it out with pliers as the rest of the pin is smooth.

There are plenty of tutorial videos on YouTube.

Here’s one:

You’ll find more just by typing is ‘Transformers pin removal’

The most important thing you’ll have to keep I mind is to not let the punch slip. That’s how you’re going to end up damaging the figure.

Practice on a cheaper figure first, if you have one. I know I had to

I’m not sure about the freezer, sorry.

I take it that putting the thing in the freezer probably wouldn't be a good idea due to how clear plastic is more fragile to begin with?

It's to bad they didn't put these things on ball joints. You could get some really neat spirals going if they had.

Re: Customizing Q&A Thread

Thanks. Unfortunately, even with clear plastic, both sides look the same. I can say that on all of them, the pin goes flush to the side of the plastic, and on the other side it is recessed into the hole. I'm not sure which end to punch actually. lol

Re: Customizing Q&A Thread

I'm wondering how effective black dye will take to plastic.

What I want is articulated hands for my Metroplex but finding the DNA upgrade is impossible, not without paying an insane scalper price. So how well would the blue DNA Fort Max hands take to it? would it ruin it?

Shouldn't ruin it.
I would think it will take it. I have dyed stuff before, like from Shapeways. I would think the hands would take they dye fine. A light sanding first might help a bit but overall. I think you can let'em soak awhile and you should be fine.

Re: Customizing Q&A Thread

What would you say are the best labels to use for FT's products? I saw some video at some point of someone using water labels, and they looked pretty slick.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Re: Customizing Q&A Thread

I think most people use labels from Toyhax (formerly Reprolabels):
https://toyhax.com/

They sell a variety of different stickers, silver back, clear back, etc. Here is an example of their decepticon stickers with a clear back. You see that they come in a pack with multiple sizes so you can decide what size fits best for the figure.

Re: Customizing Q&A Thread

Question would acetone remove the sheen before painting or just stick with rubbing alcohol or soap and scrubbing?

i attempted this a long time ago but not on a TF figure. Things got kinda melty. Maybe if it was watered down but even then I believe the chemical reaction required to strip the shine will simply cause surface damage.

if its a case of getting paint to adhere to smooth plastic then fine grit sand paper may be better.
