Re: Because I'm Watching... For Some Men.

Saw it, liked it, didn't love it. I always meant to read the graphic novel, but somehow never got around to it. (the atrocious art work was a huge turn off for me) As it was, I barely knew the plot for this, so I was going in without any spoilers for once. I think that paid off for me.

Definitely a solid movie for sure, very entertaining in parts, particularly the prison sequence with Rorschach. The actor was awesome. Favorite line from the movie: I'm not locked in here with you! You're locked in here with ME! I personally think it was a great idea to go with lesser known actors, some of them from indie films who can definitely act.

I found the film a bit long, and it sagged at times. I checked my watch once or twice. Kind of like the Dark Knight, where I felt it could be tightened up a bit more. But then, when dealing with such a monumental graphic novel, it was probably tough as it was to condense it all into one movie.

The film, as expected, was very stylized. My problem with stuff like this is that it sort of takes you out of the film sometimes. At first it's like, "Oh that was cool," but by about the second hour, I was like, "Here we go again." I guess I'm just not a fan of in-your-face stylistic touches. I'd much rather have something sneak up on me. My favorite part of the movie was all their backstories.

So yeah, good movie, not great. B+.

Saw the movie yesterday, and it was awesome! Could have went without seeing Dr. Manhattan's junk in every shot lol

Also best line in the whole movie, "Sucking on your finger is like licking a 9V battery" LOLZ!

Re: Because I'm Watching... For Some Men.

i saw the late show on sunday,
i am pretty sure
i can go on for pages,
i won't.
it was pretty bad.
sometimes completely unwatchable.
there was definite effort,
just not where it really mattered.
the new ending makes a tidy circle,
it just doesn't make any sense.

Re: Because I'm Watching... For Some Men.

I saw it last night and was really impressed. I haven't read the comic and I wanted to go in fresh. My only issue is that, from what I understand, with the Exception of Dr. Blue Wang...er sorry Dr Manhattan, the Watchmen are typical humans that have decided to fight crime. The Comic did a good job at distinguishing this, in fact, it went as far as mocking the idea that grown adults would jump around in costumes, fighting crime. I didn't really get this from the movie. That being said, the action sequences were really fun to watch.

As for all the haters, I question what would have made this movie better? I can only assume that people that hate the movie either don't get the story (which was likely the case for the couple I saw last night, leaving the theater in the middle of the movie.) or people who will never be satisfied with anything that isn't the original and will take any opportunity to dissect any and everything about a new version of a franchise, even though ti is approved and sactioned by the franchise owners... I think the term Geewuner could be used for many things outside of Transformers...

Also, Does Alan Moore get paid for these movies?

I believe the movie rights were bought a long time ago... but there's some mumbo jumbo about who owns what.

Never read the book, saw the movie, enjoyed it. We need more people like Rorschach busting heads! My only complaint is it needed more blue tigers with bunny ears
