Looking at the guy's collection, he really looked like more of a dealer than a collector.

Now, I could be totally wrong, but he if he is a collector, he clearly has a problem with hoarding.
The seller actually get nothing to loose (but the time to show people the collection) to get him and the collection on the youtube or TV;even if the deal does not go with Pawn star, somebody else will notice the listing.

Yeah... I bet he just wanted to get on tv. Maybe get some publicity to maybe sell the stuff on his own.

As for the price offered. That's pretty much what I thought was going to be offered. That's how Pawnshops make money. They don't make money by paying $100 for something that's worth $100 and selling it for $100. They buy at say $50 and sell for $100. Any collector with that much high end stuff should know the only way they're going to get full dollar value for the collection is if they sell it themselves, but that means putting time into doing it. Time equals money.

Exactly

It's a GREAT collection, but there's no WAY I'd want to go to the trouble to piece it out. It'd probably take a month of full time work sitting at an ebay page to sell all that stuff. It could easily cost 5 grand in labour to sell all that stuff. Think of the trouble it generally is to ebay just one thing, let alone thousands. Listing them, answering questions, fielding offers, dealing with assholes, and if everything goes as expected, packing up stuff so it doesn't break, shipping it all... man it'd be hell

The labour isn't that bad if it's your own spare time. He could have easily found space to pack it up somewhere and sell it off slowly.

Or just sell to a more reasonable buyer, like a collector or a dealer.

If spare time is used for work it stops being spare time.

I'm sure you have a much better solution to sell if off.

I'd be transforming while taking pictures to sell.

So it's sorta fun for me.

I'm sure it'd be fun for the first 100 figures, but I'm sure it'd get old for the next 900. Would you want to spend dozens of hours packing up figures and answering email from ebayers or woud you rather be watching TV or hanging out with your friends? I know my answer.
