Can't you just scrape the extra chrome with a small hobby knife to widen the holes?

That's what I'm going to do.

I'm also going to loosen the four screws in the back that hold the 2 chest pieces to see if it helps to smooth out the splitting action.

Disappointed that one of two Swoops that I purchased has a small crack in the clear plastic where the beak connects to the head. Doesn't affect the transformation but it still bugs me aesthetically...
