Michael Bay = genius? RE: Megan Fox departure
Alright, the mainstream media has picked up the Megan Fox story. So it is clear that is true.
However the timing of it seems a little too perfect. TF3 is not due out until next year, but the news of this comes out right before the summer movie bonanza. When everyone should be talking about Hollywood's 2010 summer offerings, everyone is talking about Megan Fox's "ouster".
Clearly Michael Bay did something right if everyone in Hollywood today is talking about one of his movies that is not even out yet.
I do have to wonder if Michael Bay timed this when he did to generate buzz for the new movie. I think he knew for some time that Megan would not be in the next movie, he knew that most would not miss her.
He also knows that ROTF did not do as well as it should, and he needed something to generate some buzz about the new movie. Firing Megan Fox now was a good way to do it.
He can get the media talking about who the new TF girl is going to be and get a media buy with that, and he could even get more publicity over the whole "was she fired or did she leave?" thing.
So, if I am right, Bay did a really smart thing and got people talking about Transformers movies even when it has not even been filmed yet.
I might be wrong, but if I am right - then smart move on Bay's part.

never thought I'd ever hear the words "Micheal Bay" and "genius" in the same sentence lol.
just means there's less cleavage shots and more room for CGI explosions. I doubt Bay's throwing a hissy-fit over it.

Re: Michael Bay = genius? RE: Megan Fox departure
ROTF did well financially because everyone went to see it. I generally disregard theatre sales to prove a movie did well. To me, if the dvd's sell really well, then the movie did well.
TF1 did well in theatres and the dvds sold really well too. TF2 I don't know. I loved the movie but I see why others hated it.
Back on topic though, i'm actually disappointed at Fox leavinig. I know, her acting is bad etc but it's the character she played that I liked. Plus I HATE re-casts. It's the 3rd movie and likely the last Bay will do of TF so realistically leaving her to finish the last movie makes more sense to me, imo anyway

genius... probably not but smart.
Lots of opportunity to make the lead female better. Just look at the new batman movie 1st Rachel Dawes (katty homes) sucked and then they brought in someone new (Maggie Gyllenhaal) for the Dark knight movie and she was great!
I think it will be a fine choice!

Megan Fox wasn't the reason ROTF made a ton of cash, people aren't going to go see TFIII because Megan Fox isn't in it.
She was expendable, and she bad mouthed Michael Bay at every chance she got, also apparently she was a little b*tch on the set to the crew.
Bay had a choice and chose not to work with her again. End of story.
Cheers!

I agree. I only suggested that Bay made this decision a while back and chose now to do it to get media attention at an ideal time.
And to the others, I think ROTF had very high expectations, both in terms of plot and in terms of money (and yes, these Hollywood lowlifes always want more). Not that it did not deliver financially mind you. It's just all relative vis-a-vis expectations.
That said, I can guarantee you that it will seem that TF3 will do better, simply by standing beside its weaker brother.
