Re: 2013 NHL Season

Man, did the Leafs totally blow it last night or what?!

They were saying on TV how the Bruins STOLE the game from them last night. The Bruins didn't steal it. The Leafs GAVE it to them. That whole last 10 minutes the Leafs looked like they were half asleep on the ice. As soon as the Bruins scored that goal and made it 4-2, I knew the Leafs had lost. They were running on empty. The Bruins just pushed them aside and went to town on the net. There was even one point where the Leafs had a brief chance at an open net and they couldn't even get it in.

So disappointing. I'm not surprised that Leafs lost. I'm only surprised that they made me think they could win.

You'll need better than Reimer for that. Reimer is good, but not Stanley Cup good.

Reimer is still young, goalies tend to come into their "prime" (teehee) later, compared to other position players. With some honing of skills, mainly rebound control, he will become one of the elite goaltenders.

Seems some fans forget he ranked fairly well in his regular season stats.
Save % - 8th.
GAA - 2.46 - respectable, and higher than other "elite" goaltenders, like Price and Luongo.
Wins - tied for 4th (note, he played less games than the tenders above him)
Shutouts - tied for 2nd.

I have issues with Reimer continuing to be the Leafs #1! Plus he has Optimus on his mask, so we have to like him!

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Razin, you are right about goalies usually needing more time to develop. There's as much mental as there is physical, so it has a learning curve. http://blogues.lapresse.ca/lnh/2013/...-des-gardiens/

However, I'd say the best goalie the Leafs have had in recent history was on the ice last night... in the opponent's crease.
