Why do you collect?

I recently heard of a challenge where people were asked to explain why they collect Transformers. I hadn't really thought much about it before. But, I figured, why not tackle the topic with my ten best reasons to do so. Naturally, these are just mine, but it would be great to see why other people do it.

I have always been amazed at the idea of them and even now the engineering of them is just as intriguing

G1 - Nostalgia. Childhood memories. Acquire the ones I've always wanted.

3P - Acquire the best quality, (modern) G1 faithful representation of my favorite characters.

Ditto...
My bay book has my gifts from 1st to 5th year written down. Each year was a transformer and a lego set.
I still collect both to this day.
I love an intriguing puzzle and the latest transformers fill that niche perfectly. Keep em coming

Re: Why do you collect?

Nostalgia, engineering, hobbie with son (even though he's more into lego & pokemon at the moment) & it keeps me out of trouble.

My inner manchild can explore being a multi-ton, nigh-immortal war machine AND cool car with a great fiction base that's seen support for 30 years. And puzzles.

Puzzle-play, which is relaxing and refreshing

Also, TF displays make nice decorations, lots of color

Nostalgia, enjoy figuring out transformation, enjoy making 'scenes'. I do this to relieve stress, chillout, play wih my kids (and tell them the background from the comics). Collecting behaviour also seems to run in my family.
