optimus maximus: whats the appeal?

I think what we need to do is take an optimus maximus to an elementary school, show it to all the kids of each grade, let them play with it for 30 min, and ask them a detailed questionnaire about what they think of this toy.

Repeat this process throughout several different elementary schools across the country, and then compare the findings to actually get an accurate account of how popular this toy is to it's actual target demographic.

With this data, we can show it to hasbro and if the kids hate it, we can petition them never to make a waste of plastic like this ever again. If the kids love it, then we can all put our collective foots in our mouths.

I was impressed with Metroplex when I was a kid and still am. Unlike Optimus Maximus, it had a true city mode, a battle station mode loaded with weapons and a cohesive robot mode. And then came Fort Max. Even better city mode and even better robot mode. More gimmicks, gimmicks that worked.

The Ark was on the right path with its 2 cohesive and functional modes, but Optimus Maximus is a huge step back, both in quality and functionality. That's not how you do a good basebot, especially not 20+ years later.
