Before and during checkout you have an opportunity to check off a box that says 'this is a gift'. This has no cost and should ensure that your item is shipped in at least a bubble envelope.
There is also an option for getting your item gift wrapped. This costs $5 and there's no evidence at this point that it will change how your item is shipped (perhaps it ensures it's sent with an outer box and not a bubble envelope?)

Ah, that is interesting, so if you mark it "this is gift", they will always send it with some type of outer packaging or protection then? Excellent tip!
I had mine sent giftwrapped, as when it was initially ordered I dont believe there was an option to have it placed in an Amazon box, or I was unsure if they did it...called them at the time and no one could confirm if that option was chosen or not. They charged me 4.42 or so extra.
Speaking of which, are those of you that had it gift wrapped been charged and had your item shipped yet? Mine hasnt budged, wondering if the gift wrap option is also delaying it.
Cheers!
