Re: No more twist ties?

I found them easier to untie. However, in the cases where the twine is too tightly knotted, the twine remains easier to cut than twist ties. It's a win-win.

Re: No more twist ties?

Oh I totally understand why Hasbro would switch - the twine is likely cheaper, lighter (even an ounce makes a difference multiplied per figure, per case, per crate, per container ship!), more environmentally friendly (I imagine this is recycled material), safer, etc etc.

It was just a strange little milestone. A dawning of a new day, to totally blow it out of any reasonable proportion.

As for ease of opening, I realized pretty quick that you just snip em out, and thus the figure is free much quicker.

I think ROTF giant Devastator was my worst twist tie experience to date.

I wonder if larger figs will still use twist ties?

Re: No more twist ties?

The twine is a nice change. I was able to easily untie Grimlock and Thrust. I used to hate how the bent twist ties would get caught up in the figure when you tried to pull them through -- not a problem with the twine.

Re: No more twist ties?

Problem is the twist ties could come off with enough proper twisting.
Some twines required scissors when I opened Thrust.

Unicron was a nightmare when I removed the twist ties compared to ROTF Dev

Re: No more twist ties?

The big difference for me is that I feel no illogical need to keep the twine as I did for twist ties. Therefore I just snip them all in one go and out the figure comes.

Re: No more twist ties?

I use nail clippers to cut the old, and the new ties. Once they were all cut, I would yank the figure out, leaving the ties behind still mostly attached to the packaging. It's sooo much easier with these new ties, as compared to the old plasticy type ones. They slide out like s**t through a goose.

Re: No more twist ties?

it might be Hasbro's "green" action. ^Goaliebot. I totally agree with it too. i always think about how much "plastic waste" we go through before we get too our toys.

p.s. should i dump the ties into mixed paper recycling? (can anyone confirm or deny?)
