Re: Are Cyber Keys really this expensive?

its not the age of the toy its the fact that the acc. (most of the time get lost and are hard to replace) they are infact only worth what you are willing to pay to complete your toy unfortunatly the longer you wait the less likley it is you will find the missing piece for a resonable dollar, sometimes you just have to bit the bullet and pay the price, patience is the key here, but so also knowing when to buy.

^ Then we have current collectors like UltraMarknus who purposefully dwindle the supply for future collectors.

I'd imagine him in the G1 days throwing away those extra series 1+ 2 Autobots' 2nd and/or 3rd missiles, instructions and unused sticker sheets.

Re: Are Cyber Keys really this expensive?

They are not worth that, it's just stupid BUY IT NOW ebay auctions pushing that price on you.

Some of those prices are the prices of the COMPLETE FIGURE WITH THE KEY.

Re: Are Cyber Keys really this expensive?

Individual keys are expensive because they were easy to lose and often force the sellers to break toy/key sets just to offer the key alone, making the toy worthless. You need the key to complete the toy, not the toy to complete the key.

Re: Are Cyber Keys really this expensive?

Crud. I need a cyber-key to Optimus, the Matrix-shaped one.
I bought a Galaxy Convoy a couple of years ago at TFCon for a good price, only missing the key.

Though I'd never go to eBay to try for it.
