I haven't seen these in ages. I grabbed one up when they first came out (back in 2005 if we are talking about the same release), and I only rarely stumble across one at a Music World or somewhere.

So I see a new Beast Machines DVD out. I check it, and yes, it's the one I already have, just with a new cover. I assume this is the one you guys have been talking about, and not the release from a few years ago. Anyway, I notice it lists a 16:9 transfer! I instantly bought it. But it was not 16:9. Just the regular full frame I already had. Plus I paid more for it this time than when it came out the first time. Not pleased.

I saw a bunch of them at SQ1 Wal-mart today, the ones with 5 episodes on it. I'd get it but I'd rather have all the episodes instead of 5.

Yup. That's the one. Same five episodes I got last time. I agree the box set is a good idea.

Just a quick comment on the whole Rhinox/Tankorr debacle (spoilers):

There's an episode in Beast Wars Season 1 where Megatron turns Rhinox evil.

Watch that one, and suddenly BM's Tankorr makes perfect sense. Given that Megatron already had the tech developed to turn Maximals evil (combined with Tarantulas' shell program), Tankorr's behavior is foreshadowed in Beast Wars.

In fact, I'll bet that Rhinox's near defeat of Megatron (were it not for Megatron having some great luck at the right time) in BW is the reason that Megatron thought to put a failsafe in Tankorr's body. Last time he faced an evil Rhinox, he got lucky. This time, he was ready.
