Ages 3 and Up Problem
Hi folks,
So I bought the last DX9 Tyrant that A3U had. They warned me the box was slightly damaged and even sent me pictures and asked if I was sure I wanted to purchase. I was very impressed!!
I got Tyrant but when I took it out, it had a paint stain on its leg:
I've been communicating back and forth with them and they seem reluctant to refund me. They say it isn't covered under warranty.
So, now I've dumped 300 odd bucks on a completely ruined Tyrant.
My question is, what should be my next move? Is there a way to get rid of the paint? Do I keep trying to hassle A3U? Chuck Tyrant in the garbage and write it off as a loss and never purchase from A3U again?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jason

Re: Ages 3 and Up Problem
I'd be a little more patient with communicating with A3U, they're in the middle of a big move might right now and things must be pretty stressful for them. Let them settle in a bit. Hold off on anything until they've said what they can do for you.

Re: Ages 3 and Up Problem
Any idea what kind of paint it is? You can definitely remove it, if it's paint, one way or the other. You can start with rubbing alcohol, see if that takes it off, then move onto harder solvents or using very fine sand paper.

I suggest rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) and a qtip.

Re: Ages 3 and Up Problem
Sorry to hear about your experience, never had that issue with A3U before. I think you're much better off trying to remove the paint by yourself. It doesn't look like paint on paint, so it should be comparatively easier to remove. I agree with the above commenters regarding using rubbing alcohol. Failing that, try acetone (in nail polish remover) but be careful with that since it can corrode plastic. Definitely don't chuck it in the garbage if you can't remove the paint, try and sell it to someone else (obviously pointing out the issue in your listing, of course) and at least recoup some of your money.

Re: Ages 3 and Up Problem
If you try isopropyl alcohol make sure it's the 99.9% stuff.

Re: Ages 3 and Up Problem
That's a weird looking paint stain...
What steps have you taken to remove so far?
Timing is terrible for A3u, wiring a week may pay some dividends as your issue will probably move a few spots up their priority list by then.
You could also try contacting the manufacturer.
I'm sure we've all bought expensive tfs with some kind of paint defect or another before....at least yours looks like it should come off.
Beats TRU mp rodimus' shoulder exploding for example.

That looks like a plastic defect, are you certain it's paint?

I was using watered down rubbing alcohol not even thinking of trying the 99.9% stuff. With some diligent rubbing it finally has come off. Thank you.

It looked like paint to me but could even be a food or blood stain. A3U hasn't said anything, but I get the feeling this figure was on display.

That's good to hear. I want to keep using them.
Thanks for the comments everyone. This truly is a magnificent figure, now that the stain is gone!!
