Bumblebee's vocal

Ever since the action movies Bumblebee's vocal is the same, can't talk. The last time Bumblebee was able to talk was in Animated. Why are the writers making Bumblebee not able to talk and give him a weird vocal? I mean I have nothing against it but it would be better if he starts talking normally again.

actually BB spoke in the first movie at the end TFTM. never were able to fix his voice box and good strategy to market with BB using word or quotes from the radio.

FOC will do the same. We apparently will see Megatron crush BB's voicebox.

Re: Bumblebee's vocal

Turn him into a Square-Enix protagonist and just make him mute. I'd rather have that than what they continue to do in the movies (and now Prime, and probably in FoC).

Sure, the R2-D2 thing worked in the first movie. He had limited screen time, and it gained sympathy from the audience. But in the second movie he should have had a voice and spoken, even if it was on a rare occasion, or crackly and robotic with the nature of the repairs.

Hell, give him only a car horn to get attention and make him use actual real life sign language to communication with humans. I think I'd enjoy seeing that more than the R2-D2 schtick.

Either that or make him talk again.

Re: Bumblebee's vocal

there is another option that might have an upturn; kill off bumblebee in blazing glory then we don't have to worry about voice or annoying bumblebee toys

The fourth option would be to kill the original and turn him into a vast number of limited intelligence disposable drones that communicate in beeps, thereby simultaneously satisfying and pissing off everyone.

Or here's an idea, have Bumblebee as a first wave character only in every line from now on, short pack him, and have him killed off early in the series. Like Cliffjumper, can always have him come back in flashbacks, but once the first wave toy is gone, he's gone until the next series. Could always repaint him into a translucent "ghost" each time around too for the final wave of the line, once again short packed.

Re: Bumblebee's vocal

I always thought they muted 'Bee in the Bayverse so dumb American audiences could get all their plot exposition only from either Optimus, Megatron or the humans. It also seemed 'Bee's character function was to bridge the actions of Cybertronians to humans (i.e., make big giant robots fighting each other more relatable to the audience) and to be the marketable mascot of the franchise. Kinda like an almost dialogue-free Darth Maul was the face of Episode I when it first came out.
