Has anyone ever tried

I just thought of this today, please tell me if it's stupid

If you were waiting for a particular store to restock with the figs you want, but nothing ever does cause of shelfwarming stock, would it not be an option to buy out all their stock?

Let's keep it simple and say we were trying to get the latest Deluxe wave - if you bought all the devices at a store, how long would it typically take to restock?

30 days buyers remorse is a thing, you can always return the stock with receipt for refund in full, right?

Trying to think of radical ways to move some stock onto the floor, can anyone suggest why this wouldn't work? Any experience trying something similar?

You dont know what is stored at the regional warehouse. Odds are if they have all this old stock, there is even more of it waiting to be stocked. So buying all the old stock could result in them simply restocking with more, especially since you just proved how well its selling all of a sudden

That joke aside, Canada TRUs are run as one so if they want only old stock there, one person buying it out wont make a difference, especially since that have to order new stock like 5 months in advance.

You also have to think long term. This might work once, but when everyone returns their stuff, how much slower will it make them restock next time, because they begin to take that into account?

IMHO--and very much speculation by me--part of the reason places like TRU is starting to be a lot more stingy on stock was a few years ago, people were buying up the wall of Bumblebees when they went on sale at greatly reduced prices.

When the new stock came in, people would go back to the store and exchange those Bumblebees for the new stock, because the TRU systems treated them all as the same item, and get the new figures at sale prices.

The cycle went on and we end up with something like this everywhere.

There is no free lunch. There's a cost to everything. In the end, what did that wall show stores? That hey don't order as much TF stuff because we keep ending up with crowded shelves.

Oh Gawd, I'm having traumatic flashbacks looking at that pic.

A better idea would be to buy (within your realistic financial limit) a couple of the shelfwarmers during a sale and donate them to toys for tots or some charity like that. You get to feel good for doing something nice and the store gets to rotate inventory.

And somewhere a sick orphaned kid opens up his toys for tots donation and exclaims, "#$%@! another bumblebee?"

Even if it did work (it won't), as soon as you bring the unwanted items back you'd just re-clog the shelves with unwanted items.

And the reason it won't work as already stated you have no idea what the regional warehouse has. I my local TRU the transformers section has been reduced to 1/3 it's original size and the local Walmarts barely carry anything.
