$240 plus whatever is far more reasonable than over 300 plus shipping plus customs, and it can always be cancelled between now and release should the price for some reason change.

AA will declared the sales price, not the MSRP. Also I find that while both AA and HLJ declared full sales value on the shipping label, iterms shipped from HLJ seems to get dinged more.

Also keep in mind, items over certain value are not eligible for SAL shipping by Japan Post as they do not provide insurance. The box for MP-41 may also be over the size/weight limit for SAL shipping. EMS is most likely the cheapest way to ship it.

AA won't let you cancel on your own but I have contacted and cancelled items with them before because the final product was changed from the prototype shown for pre-order. Also you can just ignore their payment request which happened to me once as I was out of town and not able to pay.

Can confirm everything I've ordered via HLJ got dinged; I'm expecting shipping/handling/customs to be astronomical when importing

Depends. Of every Gunpla, MP, s.h.figursts, books, cosplay, and misc hobby supplies I order from Japan. I only got dinged twice. Both time were shipped by HLJ using EMS. MP-36 shipped from AA using EMS surprisingly did not get dinged.

AA's fine. I've been ordering more from AA than from HLJ lately.
