Classics Barricade

Here's another custom Police Car, though of a different variety. I'm sure this has been made a few times, but I haven't personally seen it done yet. This is Barricade (as the title suggests), made from a Classics Prowl I got from @CheersIan on twitter this TFCon.

His story is simple. Barricade grew up with Prowl and even went to the Autobot Police Academy with him. Many years on the force in Kaon, Prowl finds clear evidence that Barricade had become crooked and he's thrown out. Wanting to have his revenge on Prowl, Barricade now serves Megatron as his head of security and the Commander of the Road Class of the Vehicon army, while Lugnut and Starscream handle the Aerial and Worker Classes respectively.

Painted with a mix of Water-based Sharpie Paints (Blue, Black), Oil-Based Sharpie Paints (Silver, Gold) and Molotow Acrylic (Red, Purple, White), he's a 100% repaint with some Reprolabels added from a Movie Set #45. I still need to get another one to finish off some other details on the sides, but other than that he's done.

I have some pics of Barricade by himself, squaring off against Sharpshot of Prowl's task force, and pulling over Jazz for "speeding".

Enjoy

I'd love to see an official classics Barricade. Great job!

Re: Classics Barricade

Nice job! Can I ask what colour you used on his face? It looks like a bronze, and I'm looking for a good bronze colour for a custom of my own. I wouldn't mind knowing what you used.

Re: Classics Barricade

It's actually an extra fine oil-based gold Sharpie marker. Thanks

Alright, well then we can have a further discussion.

I had a sharpie bronze marker which was exactly the colour I wanted, but I found that no matter how long I let the sharpie dry, it wasn't fixing to the plastic - handling it with my fingers would inevitably smug the sharpie, and it would come off on my fingers.

Do you use anything to "fix" the sharpie so it doesn't run if you rub it (as one often does when transforming figures)? Since this is just the head maybe that's not a problem.

I was thinking of using future polish (which people seem to use to seal their customs) but in the end settled for a light wash of Tamiya Copper overtop of the sharpie, which was redder than I would like...but whatchagonnado, right? I tried Tamiya Gold (Gold Leaf maybe?) first, but that was too yellow...

Hmmmm... That sounds like what happens with my oil-based blue marker. If you look at Five-O, his rear window parts/back lower legs have a blue on them that is all drippy and doesn't look good (I purposely didn't take a pic of the back of vehicle mode because of that). There's nothing I can do about that, other than get a different based marker.

Maybe try and find a water-based Sharpie gold (I know they have silver), or maybe try some brand of acrylic metallic gold marker.

I hope that helps
