Mostly old AFX cars but also the terminal track and controllers for the cars that had the brake lights or gear shifting function. This set was one of the ones I had as a kid:



It would be awesome to have the cars again at least, since I already have some track.

Thanks for the tips. I go to Victoria once or twice a year and I think I know which shop you mean, maybe I'll take another look next time. As for Abbotsford, without a car I'm hooped but if I'm ever around I'll check it out.

Edit: Even non-working cars might be okay if the bodies are in decent shape. I can always replace parts or just put them on different chassis.

This is the set my younger bro had, I had Scaleletric.




The ones I got in 85 were the Tomy/Aruroa and had high banked curves, and magnatraction cars. I did find after that a couple of other old stock AFX cars as well as 18 wheelers and cop cars, but I think I lost those 4 moves ago .
I had a couple of AFX adapter pieces to add the AFX serpentene track

Too bad you lost all your cars. I left mine at my parents' house and I guess they threw them out because all the track was broken and the cars weren't really running. Would've been nice to hold onto them for the bodies and controllers and stuff but what can you do.

Nice layout though! I'm hoping to make a tabletop one soon on a piece of plywood so I can take it out when I want to race and store it away when I'm not using it.

When I get back from TFCON, I might go and try to find them downstairs, if I still have them or any cars I'll let you know.

Their track was terrible for breaking, always snapped off the end corner, Tomy changed the track and it was better after that.

Oh yeah, those corners were so bad. At least they had the clips you could use if the tabs broke off. All my current track is Tomy so I don't have to deal with that anymore thankfully.

So speaking of slot cars... does anyone remember the name of the mid-90s one where you drive through a volcano? I used to have it buy google hasn't been much help.

Nope, but sounds like something Tyco/Hot Wheels would put out? I think AFX had gone under by that time.
