Re: Will you see The Last Knight?
While completely understanding that this bayverse is now a big part of the franchise, I just feel like it's creatively far removed from what I ever hoped it would become. The reason I cringe when people say they don't really like it yet support it because it keeps the franchise going, is because it keeps THIS version of the franchise going.
But I get it. The inertia is already an event, and it has a fanbase. There is no going back.
My G1 stuff is starting to look a lot to the new crowd like my Grandmas Elvis records looked to me.

Re: Will you see The Last Knight?
Wouldn't go if Michael Bay personally paid the entrance fee.

This version of the franchise is the only one they're interested in selling, if it were to fail, you wouldn't get an alternative, you just wouldn't get as many TF's, it would become much more of a niche, collector product, like what GI Joe is after Rise of Cobra, or MOTU these days. For hardcore fans only, not even marketed to kids; preying on nostalgia with no intent to innovate.
And like you said, even if we the TF fans boycott the movie, we're the minority of the audience.

I don't actually believe that. Nature abhors a void.
Look at these horrible movies as a bunch of cheap clutter.
Much like people who throw their Bayformers in the trash and start collecting higher end.
Sometimes you need to make room for better stuff.
Reading the news and reviews, and especially ticket sales so far, I don't think that being on the boycott end of things is the minority. This movie blows and nobody is going to see it. It's a complete box office flop.

Re: Will you see The Last Knight?
I will see it for Optimus Prime's and my own blood lust nothing more. I like the idea now that the autobots are bloodthirsty villains and generally jerks in my mind just waiting for them to turn on humanity.

It really isn't, that is what Disney does with Star Wars.
The cartoons don't revolve around the film continuity. Neither do the video games, or the comics, or the odd novel they bring out. Toys most definitly don't as we really don't even see film toys between films.
Something Hasbro has done well is offer something for all fans, not just movie fans. Star Wars could learn something from them.
