You've got 15% HST in Nova Scotia, right?
So convert $230 usd to cad = approx $305 ($1.32 cad to $1 usd today).
Shipping paid doesn't matter, it's not taxed as far as I know.
15% HST of $305 = $45.75
Add $10 cad fee
= $55.75 cad due (approximately, as exchange rates do vary daily)

Re: BBTS
So with shipping, exchange rate, customs and fees, and if I get hit with HST a $76 US figure almost doubles to $150 CAD.

You posted while I was typing, just saw your math. Guess it works out closer to $130 cad. A little better but still sucks though!

Re: BBTS
I used to use BBTS when the dollar was on par or strong against the US greenback. But now rarely use them. Mostly go through HLJ or local now.
I always paid duty/taxes on BBTS shipments. But I always used POL and do a bulk ship to save on shipping costs. I also went through FedEx as I can have the $10 fee waived in all cases because I have an account with them. But it is a premium price I pay. On the upside it does arrive in 2-3 days once shipped. I also don't have to pay upfront at the door. Just get my parcel and wait for the invoice to be mailed.

Re: BBTS
Helps to live by the border. I have all my BBTS shipments sent to WA State. When I import them personally, I usually only pay if the total is over $100, sometimes not even then. I've been waved through after stating a $175 total... once.

Re: BBTS
Got an order in today, customs to the tune of 23 bucks and change. Order was just over $200 usd.
I don't mind paying tax, but the $9.95 "handling fee" is a scam.
Anyway, I've been hit with customs every order for the past few years.

Re: BBTS
Got my BBTS Christmas order today... after 1 month of waiting.
Seems like they are using the same Sweden shipping that the TF Club uses. So it leaves the US goes to Sweden and then Canada?
No additional charges on $80 USD item.

That's the first time I've heard them take such an indirect route. If it arrived from Sweden, then no, I guess I wouldn't expect customs charges, but if it came direct from the US, usually you would've been dinged. Weird.

Re: BBTS
Thankfully I am in no hurry to get my order so I have it sent to my sister whom lives in the U.S. and when she visits she brings it.
