Yeah can't deny that appeal for sure. I think cost plays a massive part for me. If the maketoys devy is 500 then I might consider the switch.

Not gonna lie...I doubt the Maketoys version cost will be much different...maybe $150-200 less then the TFC...and I'll easily pay that for a bigger version. I mean...if you're willing to pay $400 what's another hundred or so bucks? May as well go all out.

I actually Agree With This ^. I think the maketoys version comes out in the 350-400 Range. When you factor in Hercules is not such a huge hit at all once. $100 every so often until next year, it's a little easier to swallow than shelling out $400 straight away.

Plus with the staggered release for hercules you get to enjoy each individual bot for awhile before you have them displayed in combined mode for the rest of eternity.

Re: TFC Toys Hercules Devastator Combined Mode Prototype Image

Ya...the ability to spread out the cost of Hercules and enjoy each mold on its own for a bit is a nice bonus...I just know that last one we get will be quickly overlooked :P

Another point I'd like to touch on looking at the two a little more side by side, I like how Hercules doesn't necessarily follow the same guidelines that the G1 figure had, making new changes to give him a better updating. IE the treads becoming the forearms on both sides, Hook and his crane being more modern...would have liked to see an extended nose on Mixmaster but the Maketoys version didn't have that either...regardless there was just so much more appeal to Hercules for me personally. Showed more creative genius.

Ya, I think the big difference too is that Hercules is not a "Parts Former". Personally I don't mind parts-forming, but others have issues with it. Hercules is self contained which is fantastic.

The only design aspect of hercules that bothers me is on mixmaster, the front cab design looks blah.

Re: TFC Toys Hercules Devastator Combined Mode Prototype Image

every time i see the maketoy version i'm reminded of how i dont really like how its just vehicles slapped on his arms with crap dangling below. i understand thats "show/g1 accurate" but yeah i much prefer what TFC's done with the arms

yah, that's really the maketoys versions biggest drawback. it looks like a bunch of vehicles stuck together.

with herc, you can even remove the shovel and crane if you want.

that being said, again, i'll probably get them both as MT's will fit in better with FP bruticus which is the default combiner in my collection.

that episode in season 2 where devs was as big as a skyscraper is his definitive scale imo...lol (think it is the one that hoist and grapple build the solar power tower) so i'll go with devs, with all the combiners coming after them not brought to autobot city in the movie (i know, they weren't finished when the script was) i figure he's the biggest and baddest g1 combiner before predaking (and a favorite)

off topic kinda, showed my brother exgraver tonight (he gave me g1 devs when i was little) he loves it, is impressed with the tread transformation

Meh. I'm kind of glad I cancelled my preorders. Not worth the vast amount of coin in my eyes.
