Transformers Autobot Commander Optimus Prime G1 Reissue Revealed

TFND’s Facebook*page shared a reveal from*the 22nd Bahamut Gamer Party 2018 of none other than*other than a trailer-less G1 Optimus Prime! As many of our readers noticed, this figure appears to include smoke stacks of a favorable height while the top of the box is curved rather than sporting the right angles of its G1 reissue counterparts Hot Rod and Starscream. Might this be the Walmart Exclusive G1 Reissue for 2019, discovered just after we’ve learned that Astrotrain is coming in 2020? A guaranteed buy for your collection, no matter the cost? Stay tuned for more details » Continue Reading.

What?? No trailer? That's like Astrotrain only being able to turn into the train and not the shuttle.

Blasphemy! Well guess I'm done with this line.

No trailer is a surprise. That said, the vast majority of OP toys don't have trailers, so I'm good with it. Bring it n! I'm in for 2.

If G1 Hot Rod is $39.99, I imagine this would be about... $54.99?

Amusingly, Walmart.com has reduced G1 Hot Rod to $12.97 USD (from $29.84 USD) right now...

I guess the rumour that has been running through the fandom that Hasbro was releasing these reissues to accurately reflect how the toys looked on the shelves in the 80s is now debunked.

Unless someone can show me photos from the 80s of a Prime being sold without his trailer.

I might consider this, but only if it is cheap. Without the trailer it doesn't really hold any interest fore currently, even with what looks like long smokestacks.

No trailer means no sale for me. There've been a million Optimus cabs released over the years that are a hell of a lot better than the G1 version, but there haven't been many trailers and the ones we've gotten were often worse than the original. G1 Optimus Prime's trailer is still worth owning, but the cab and robot mode are just a historical relic.

Interesting choice not including the trailer, would it have really raise the price that much?

I'm guessing that he will be sold at the same price as Hot Rod. The box looks like it is the same size.

I'm guessing it will cost a bit more just because it's optimus. They could also use the excuse of more die cast.

The excluding of the trailer could be a shelf space vs how much more they could charge with the trailer, thing.

Too bad they couldn’t do that with MP44.
