Battle: L.A.

Just saw it for $6 @ AMC before noon

It was like Independance Day fought from the ground. All hand to hand combat by a company of marines who find a way to save the day.... Or like the apparent DOTM Decepticon invasion with no Autobots to help us

EDIT: POLL Added

Which is more realistic... Friendly Aliens who would communicate with us will come here looking for help or invaders only looking to colonize and/or take our energon/water without asking?

It looks pretty cool. Is it worth a theatre run or wait for a Blu-ray release?

I chose to watch the Adjustment Bureau over this. Ebert's 0.5/4 stars was a factor.

Yep. Pretty much spot on. I just came back from it, and I enjoyed it for what it was.

Young men: If you attend this crap with friends who admire it, tactfully inform them they are idiots. Young women: If your date likes this movie, tell him you've been thinking it over, and you think you should consider spending some time apart.
The problem with Ebert is he just can't appreciate certain movies for what they are: mindless entertainment. I can appreciate if someone doesn't like that sort of thing, but it anyone had any expectations that this movie would be anything more than things going boom, then they are the idiots.

It is what it is. Was it the best action movie ever? No. Was it worth my $10? Yep. I was in the mood for a loud, noisy film full of people getting blown up and that's what I got. I have nothing against absurd films so long as they don't break their own rules.

My two knocks against the film: 1) The aliens were uninspiring. Just really boring. Like the random Decepticons that got blown up in ROTF. 2) They spent ten minutes in the beginning building up to the attack. That was ten entirely too long minutes. I didn't care about the characters. I just wanted to see things blow up. So yes, I enjoyed this on a purely 8 year old level.

I couldn't have been the only one who thought of Transformers when I first saw the trailer for it...

I'm ok with mindless explosions and action. Just after my friends were "victims" of Skyline's "Action" or crap, I was hesitant to see this.

I listen to the comedy film nerds podcast and they have coined the them "being skylined".

Essentally it means when you go to a movie that looks amazing in the previews, but ultimately sucks in the theater.

So, this movie Battle LA, better not skyline me.
